How To Go About Becoming a Certified Medical Assistant

Although vocational schools are most associated with teens in high school, some offer adult programs as well. And, small colleges often have night classes for working adults with other responsibilities. You can even take a distance learning course, although not all of your training and education can be done in this way. An internship at a physician's office is a very important part of your training.

The final step after graduation to become a certified medical assistant is to take the CMA exam. It is given three times per year at over 200 United States testing sites. You may obtain a job as a medical assistant before you take your certification exam. After becoming certified, you may want to look at the next step up which is Registered Medical Assistant or RMA and requires more experience before the exam can be taken.
